Blade 6 months

Blade turned 1/2 a couple weeks ago! I can't believe he's been around for half a year. How lucky we were to have this little boy join our family. 

He loves to sleep so snuggly. 

Those eyes! He has the longest, most beautiful lashes and it kills me. 

Totally into toes.

Ok but really. He's too good for this world.

He loves to eat paper and tissues and napkins.

Fine. I give up on the sign.

Oatmeal, on the other hand... No thank you.

He didn't even cry when he got his shots!

At his 6 month appointment, he weighed 15 lbs exactly (8th percentile) and was 27.5 inches (85th percentile), with a perfectly average head. Very tall and skinny! He gets enough to eat but doesn't have the biggest appetite- he is satisfied pretty easily. He sleeps 12+ hours every- sometimes on the weekend he'll go 13! (He won't sleep through the night unless he has 2 noise machines running at full volume, non-stop. It's a little extra but we roll with it.) He nurses 5 times during the day- up to about 4 hour intervals in between. He naps great in his crib when we are home- 3 naps a day, but when we are out in the afternoon after school, he stays up and can get a little cranky. He is a champ with all the time he spends in the carseat and stroller and just lays there happily playing with his toys. He is great at putting himself to sleep and often wakes up during his nap, talks for a few minutes, then goes back to sleep. He loves his thumb and sucks it all the time and is pretty into his pacifier too. He wears size 6-9 month clothes, size 2 diapers, and size 1 shoes. He is starting to venture into the world of eating and LOVED the cucumber he had yesterday. He is still extremely spitty. In the past 1-2 weeks he has started rolling and goes both ways now! He can sit up for a couple seconds on his own. He loves to hang out on his playmat, batting at toys, and is very tolerant of the smothering attention that his sisters cover him in. He and Lance are best buds and like to hang out a lot. He has a flat spot on the side of his head that we haven't been able to get rid of so it looks like he might be a helmet baby. We'll find out more at an appointment this week. He also has very persistent cradle cap. He is so good-natured and sweet, and an awesome eater/sleeper. We are the luckiest!

September things

We've had lots of fun finishing off the summer. Right after school started, the Primary threw a neighborhood bbq. The girls had a great time in the homemade giant bubble machine.

 Lance took the girls to a Bees game and they liked the game and loved the ice cream.

I finally learned how to can and have done lots of peaches and jams in the past few weeks.

The girls love snuggling Blade in bed! Maybe a little too much...

We were lucky to celebrate Aunt Meagan's birthday with her! 4 yummy desserts for 40 years.

The girls have been begging me to teach them how to sew but I've been so busy and they got tired of waiting. They taught themselves. All I had to do was thread the needles (about 700 times), and by the end Reagan was doing that, too. They were so proud of their little pillow creations!

Maddie loves our bed. She is great at helping me make it, even though most of the pillows are bigger than her.

 Another fun year at the Fairy Festival.

Blade took it all in stride.

We spent a fun evening at the State Fair. We were all mesmerized watching the high dive!

The kids love the rides, of course. Fun house is always a must

Interestingly, Maddie wouldn't ride this one.

Reagan did this one by herself and loved it.

And the farm is always a favorite.

Daryn and I went to a goodbye lunch for her beloved preschool teacher who is moving.

We will miss you, Miss Chelsea!

Maddie got to start gymnastics and did very well in Littles. 

 One afternoon the girls had early out from school so we picked up Lance from work and drove the Alpine Loop. Stunning as always!

Just the greatest dad ever. He can't help it. 

We can't even fit in a family selfie anymore!

We saw lots of pretty colors but I didn't capture them well. We ended with a yummy burger and ice cream at the BYU Creamery before driving back north.

We had our first Parent-Teacher conferences of the year. Both kids are rocking it (of course) and Daryn was proud to show off her adorable cat.

Maddie is so into books these days. She reads to her animals all day long.

And last but not least, the girls had their Primary Program today. They both did great but we were especially proud of Daryn, who was asked to give a talk that she had previously written for Primary. Since she can't read fluently yet, she decided to memorize it- all 11 sentences! She worked hard for over a month to learn the whole things and totally nailed it- just one tiny prompt in the middle from her teacher. Our kiddos are super smart!
