15 months

Even though Reagan doesn't officially turn 15 months old for another 2 days, we're leaving for vacation tonight, so I'm writing this now as a quick update. I can't believe her birthday was 3 months ago- she's changed so much in such a short time! Her doctor's appointment isn't until we get back, so I don't have her stats, but here are some of her new skills:

- signs please, thank you, more, and all done on command and on her own
- says shoes, cheese, uh oh, and repeats lots of words after us
- folds her arms for prayers
- understands tons of words and obeys commands- ex "bring me your toolbox", "let's do blanket time" "where's your milk?" "let's go outside"
- can point out head, hair, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, arms, legs, and feet on herself or someone else
- climbs on everything
- puts on our shoes and walks around all the time
- loves to read books with us and on her own
- plays well and shares her toys with other kids/babies
- feeds her baby doll her toy bottle and pushes her in her toy stroller
- can go down stairs frontwards or backwards
- loves to be chased and chase us around
- loves helping me by closing doors and gates, pressing buttons, and wearing her apron and stirring 
- is SUCH a daddy's girl and cries sometimes when he leaves in the morning
- eats everything we eat, still sleeps about 11.5 hours at night, and takes either 1 or 2 naps
- has 6 teeth

We love this happy little girl so much! No cute pictures, but I'm sure we will have tons after the next couple weeks!

Happenings

5 things from the past, present, and future

1. Past. After experiencing out first trip to the ER this week, I feel like a real (bad) mother now. Reagan got into some old pain medication on Thursday evening and tried to swallow it. I didn't know she could open childproof caps. I don't want to talk about it. After swiping the pills out of her mouth (with my windex covered hands. yikes) I called poison control and they told me to take her to the ER. I quickly loaded her in the car and called Lance sobbing. It was the most awful feeling ever. Luckily he was able to leave work a half hour early and meet me at the hospital 45 minutes later. I got to the ER and got all checked in, and they told me that because we weren't sure if she swallowed and or how much was in her system, they needed to observe her and do a blood test on her in 4 hours. So we spent the evening in the tiny hospital room while Reagan ran around tearing things up. I've never seen her so hyper. (One of the side effects they were watching for was drowsiness. Nope.) Finally, they did the blood test. Reagan did so well, she didn't cry one bit. She just sat there and watched the blood flow out of her while I held her. She was excited to get the bandage and stickers after.

 

The results from her blood came back normal, and we finally left around 10:30. It was a long night. I learned several valuable lessons, the most important one being that Reagan is smarter, sneakier, and more capable than I thought.

2. Past. I got my hair cut today. Nearly a foot, and I was able to donate it to Locks of Love. I haven't had hair this short since early high school, and it feels great. And a little sad. We'll see if I can style it.

 

3. Past. I also made this big picture of the temple today (glued, textured, painted the frame) at our RS's Super Saturday. I love it. It's beautiful. It looks great in our living room.

4. Present. BYU vs Utah. Tied 7-7 at halftime. I hope we win.

5. Future. This week: Oregon. Next week: Texas. Week after: Mexico. Oh yeah, baby. See y'all in a few weeks!

Full of Grace

This weekend we babysat our niece, Grace. And boy was it a busy weekend! Thursday was spent playing with toys- Reagan and Grace played so well together! Friday, we went to the park, then that evening headed to Salt Lake for Annie's wedding reception (gorgeous bride), then zipped on over to the state fair! It was a blast!

Getting excited to go in:

 Grace went down the giant slides with me 3 or 4 times. I couldn't believe how brave she is for a 2.5 year old!

 We went on lots of other rides, and even took Reagan on some.

Grace went fishing and got two prizes! One of which she let Reagan hold.

Saturday morning, we went up to Brigham City to see the new temple open house with some friends. Unfortunately, they weren't doing official tours that day, because of Brigham City Peach Days. Fortunately, as we were walking around the back, we met up with a group of other people like us, and they let us have an unofficial tour (which was the same, but without the video at the beginning talking about temples). We even got cookies!
 
Afterwards, we watched the parade which happened to be going past right in front of the temple, so it all worked out great.
 
After heading home so the girls could get a long nap, it was time for...

The Fairy Festival!

 The Fairy Festival is an event/fundraiser put on by Grace's aunt's sister, in memory of her baby that died a few years ago, and all the profits are donated to charity. It was beautiful, and I couldn't believe how many people were there! Reagan was so excited, she wouldn't hold still for a picture.

At the festival, we dropped Grace of with one of her other aunts to stay with until her mom and dad came home today. We had such a great time with her, but two kids is a lot of work!

Summer fun...All done

The past month Reagan and I (and occasionally Lance) have been hitting up all the cool water spots around town to beat the heat. The Layton wave pool was one of our favorites, and we went there at least once a week.

We also went to the splash pads around here a few times, which Reagan loved. The little fountains were just her size, and every time they went off she went to each one trying to figure out how to get it back on.

I already miss summer, but dressing Reagan in all her cute fall clothes has helped ease my pain.
