Maddie was signed up to do Storybook Camp at the same place Reagan and Daryn did Mermaid Camp, but it was cancelled. She was so disappointed, but I told the older girls I would pay them to do a Storybook Camp for Maddie. They eagerly agreed and really went all out (and learned some good business skills). Win, win, win. They chose 5 books and planned all the activities, and it ran for 3 days, 2 hours in the afternoon. They even invited Maddie's best friend, and both girls had a great time.
They got really into facepainting day. Blade got some after his nap.
And then they decided to do Daryn...
The second pic is after 10 minutes of her scrubbing in the shower. "Mom is it all off yet?"
I was a little embarrassed to take her in public but we didn't let it stop us from taking a walk at the park while Reagan was at cross country.
She had to take explorer themed photos for her teacher and I think she looks much cuter when you can see her face. Although just wait to see what she looks like now...
Reagan used her new sewing machine to make this bag for Blade. Adorable.
Last Friday, Lance took the day off of work so we could hike without worrying about the crowds too much. We finally made it to Cecret Lake! It's been on my list for a while.
Lots of stops for examining nature.
But we finally made it! And it did not disappoint.
We ate our picnic lunch and then spent a while climbing up and sliding down this rock face.
Dixie was just happy for some time out of her carrier.
We tried our hand at fishing and didn't get anything, but saw lots of salamanders in the water. If you look closely, you can see 3 of them in the picture on the right (look just to the left of Daryn's head).
On the way back, we saw a moose from the trail! It was laying down having a little rest.
After that hike, we were pretty tired, but there was a couple other spots in Little Cottonwood Canyon that we wanted to check out.
It was a short hike to Lisa Falls, a unique waterfall that went sideways down the rock face.
The kids had fun doing more climbing and splashing and got their shoes all wet. I probably should have anticipated that.
Our last stop was the Temple Quarry hike/walk, where we got to see and read about where they got all the rock to build the Salt Lake Temple over a 25 year period. Pretty cool! We drove by the temple on the way home to see how it looks under construction these days.
After stopping to get some Tonyburgers, we went home exhausted but happy!
Maddie is growing up so much! She loves to make her bed meticulously, and the other day she drew this cute picture (with regular markers on a dry erase board) of "Mommy and Daddy on their married day".
Time for the dentist! A favorite for everyone. Cavity free streak still going! The older girls got sealant on their molars and Reagan got referred to an ortho for the gap in her front teeth.
Maddie got her first x-rays.
After watching all his sisters go, Blade climbed up happily for his turn and cooperated very nicely. I was impressed.
Post-scripture dog pile on Daddy! Better him than me.
Time for back to school haircuts! Before and afters. Some pretty drastic changes this year. Daryn's was shorter than we both we thinking (I told the stylist just above shoulder) but she looks so cute and she loves it.
And Reagan wanted hers short short short.
Maddie requested "medium hair" and she looks so much better with all her straggly parts off.
Blade got his haircut from Lance and I forgot to take a before pics, but here's a during and after.

Reagan stayed busy with my phone taking pictures at church today. Dixie finally passed out 5 minutes before the end.
Our stop at the temple. You can't see much from the ground, but arial shots from others show the foundation being laid!
On a random side note, I found another snail in the garden and now we have Slick and Slide.
They are cute and can be pretty entertaining to watch.
Also I'm pretty sure they made snail babies...
