New floor

The carpet in our living room was so old and gross, Lance and I thought it was finally time for something new. Since the kitchen floor needed to be refinished anyway, we decided to have the whole main level match with hardwood. This ended up being kind of a big ordeal but we are so happy with it!

Before:

During:

The company we hired was so efficient and they had the old floor torn up and the new one installed all in the first day! We spent that whole day hiding out upstairs in the master bedroom and watching tv. It was pretty noisy but the girls liked to check up on the progress and Daryn even napped through it.

The next two days they were staining the floor, so we had to be out of the house all day. That was pretty interesting with a 2 and 4 year old (and a very tired pregnant mom). It didn't help that it was pretty chilly, so we couldn't be outside too much, but we made it work and even had a lot of fun! We kept busy running errands, and then spent a couple of hours at the airplane museum.

Then straight over to the Treehouse Museum.

Reagan loved playing teacher and drew herself an apple.

These girls are very into crafting lately.

That night we got our first peak at the floor after we tiptoed across it!

The next day was straight out again. Daryn and I hung out at Genevieve's while Reagan was at school, and then we drove to Salt Lake. We had lunch with Lance, and then spent a few hours at the Tracy Aviary. We had never been there before and it was so fun! Of course, I think we all would have enjoyed it a little more if it had been about 15 degrees warmer.

Almsot as big as vultures!

Of course the roaming peacock was a favorite.

Daryn: "Hi peacock!!"

And the flamingoes!

And especially this macaw they got to see close up!

When we were finally too cold to stay any longer, we met Lance for dinner and then we could finally go home.

Where we were greeted by this! So beautiful!

In the sunlight the next morning, it looked even better.

After a long couple days of deep cleaning the entire main level (sawdust every where) and moving all of our things/furniture back in from the garage and the basement, it was finally back to normal! So happy to eat at our kitchen table after a very long week!

And the girls love playing on their new rug.

So bright and clean and open. We love it!

Of course the girls wanted to break in in by painting- and the paint spills wiped right up!

Happiness. And also a good reminder of why Lance and I don't remodel in general. Too much work :).
