Colorado Girls Weekend

The first weak in August, we went on an impromptu girls trip to Colorado to meet Sharon and kids! We had originally planned that trip for that weekend, but then her little baby Cora broke her leg and couldn't travel so we had to cancel. The day before, Sharon decided to leave Cora at home with her dad and bring the other girls so the trip was back on! I was a little nervous about driving a 7.5 hour drive without stops with all 3 girls by myself, but we made it in less than 10 hours and the girls did well. Madelyn was so excited to meet her last aunt! Considering how spread out our families are, that's a pretty big accomplishment at her age!
Unfortunately, Sharon got mastitis the first night we were there and was feeling pretty under the weather on Friday. My mom and I took all the kids to the park that morning. They played with the stomp rocket and totally obsessed over this lady's dog.
Maddie was sucking her thumb! Yikes but it was sooo cute.

Later that day we took the girls to the rec center to go swimming. Sharon sat out and Mom was in for part of it, but at one point it was me with all 6 girls! And nobody drowned. Although things did get a little iffy in the hot tub.

They got to play at the indoor park after.

Madelyn got lots pf grandparent and cousin snuggle time!

We put Reagan and Halle and Daryn all in the same room. They did pretty good after the first night when they wouldn't settle down.

Friday was pizza night, of course! We all ate more than our share...

The girls got to slide down the tetherball pole with Grandpa.

Saturday morning, Sharon was feeling somewhat better so we drove up to Estes Park!

Reagan was mesmerized by the glass blowing demonstration and insisted on staying to the very end, after all the other kids had moved on.

Lots of fun things to see!

Lunch at a playground. As we were eating, it started to drizzle we decided it was time to leave!

We stopped by a viewpoint on the way out and there were people feeding chipmunks! They shared some of their peanuts with us and we joined the fun.

Daryn was positive she could get one to eat this pine branch and didn't want to hear any of my nonsense.

We decided that you can sleep when you're dead, so after a brief regrouping at home and grabbing Eric, we were off to Lakeside, the somewhat run-down amusement park from our childhood.

Sharon and Grandma hung our with the littles in kiddieland.

Reagan and Eve were so excited to ride this big roller coaster (pictured below)! It was a little bumpier than I remembered...

Train ride around the lake.

While we were there, Reagan got stung by a wasp twice. Poor girl. But the employees took good care of her and after some Dippin' Dots she felt much better..

Strong man.

We got home late that evening and fed the kids some sandwiches and put them to bed. The next day, we had a long drive home but took some time to stop by the newly completed Fort Collins temple. So beautiful!

We made killer time on the way home- less than 9 hours I think.

We were so excited to get home and see Daddy!! You may wonder what Lance was up to while we were gone. Well, he was having adventures of his own... He went on kind a crazy hike up in the Uintas to camp and fish. It sounds difficult to me but apparently he had fun. I even convinced him to take pictures for me!
 So beautiful!

Lucky guy to have this view and solitude.
It was a pretty successful trip besides the part where he dropped his phone in the lake. Luckily, it recovered.

By the time Sunday rolled around we were all grateful to be home!
