Easter Weekend

We had a pretty awesome time celebrating Easter. We started things off on Friday, with Lance taking the afternoon off work. I packed up a picnic lunch and we went to meet him. While I was heating up a bottle of milk for Blade for later, I was overzealous and it exploded in the microwave, banging the door open and spraying milk everywhere. You can see the bottle with the hole in the side where it landed in the top of the cooler. Yikes.

First stop was the International Peace Gardens. They were beautiful and just as peaceful as you would imagine. 

We enjoyed walking along the Jordan River that passes through. 

We had our picnic there and then stopped by the playground nearby afterwards.

He was digging the swinging.

Next stop was Temple Square. We wanted to just wander and take in the beauty and visualize the upcoming changes that were announced that morning. 

It was such a beautiful day and the girls even semi-obliged me by posing for some pictures. 

On the spur of the moment, we decided to go up to the conference center roof but wound up with a tour of the entire building which was really really cool. 

It was awesome experience; I can't believe we had never done it before. 

We ate dinner at Lion House and walked through City Creek, where the girls ran into fake Cinderella in the Disney Store. (Thanks, FanX.)

We made it home by bedtime, exhausted but happy. 

 Saturday morning, the girls convinced Lance to make colored egg shaped pancakes. Purple for Reagan, pink for Daryn, green for Maddie, and blue for Blade.

Then it was time to color eggs!

We tried a few new techniques this year and they turned out pretty well. 

That afternoon, Reagan's Irish class was performing at Earth Days at the Ogden Nature Center. 

Some of us were more excited than others. 

He perked up once the music started. 

Look at those fancy feet! She did great. 

The girls even got to meet an owl.

After a long walk around the Nature Center, this girl was pooped. Too much fun!

Sunday morning, the girls actually slept late before they woke up to find their baskets!

And we ate our Easter cookies that we sealed in the oven the night before- they were empty in the middle like the tomb!

Daddy came home and found his basket hidden under the end tables. 

The girls got bubble guns in their baskets and couldn't wait to try them out!

Then it was time to get all cleaned up.

Not a bad looking crew.

I was determined to get some decent pictures. 

He hates grass. 

I bought this hat for Blade to wear. It stayed on his head for .8 seconds.

We had a lovely day at church and when we got home Meagan and Grace joined us!

Time for an egg hunt!

Unfortunately a storm was blowing in as Lance and I were quickly hiding eggs. Fastest egg hunt ever and it was pouring by the end.

 Blade had to see for himself what this egg business was about.

We had the best Easter, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ- you can see Blade was a huge fan. (It might have been a sugar high.)
