Reagan turns 4, Fathers Day

We had a double holiday this year! Father's Day fell on June 21st, Reagan's birthday. We had Reagan's friend party on Friday to spread things out. She wanted a garden-themed party, so that's what we had!
The kids all got to paint pots and plant flowers in them.
 And make fruit pizzas.

And play Pin the Bee on the Flower.
And have a watering can relay.
And spend lots of time playing on the trampoline and in the sandbox.
Overall, a smashing success. I survived 11 4&5 year olds by myself, but when everyone left I turned my back for 5 minutes and found the girls like this  in the sandbox. Completely covered in wet sand.

After cleaning up, we had Reagan's requested birthday dinner of hot dogs.

Saturday we went swimming and then out to Outback to eat with Meagan and Grace.

Sunday morning, there was a big surprise waiting for this girl.

Best. Dad. Ever. And so nice of him to share his day!

Spend most of Sunday afternoon making pink birthday cake with chocolate frosting and lemon meringue pie from scratch. So yummy.

That evening, it was time for presents. Reagan got a new blanket and toys and Lance got tickets to the Stadium of Fire to see Journey!

And of course we had to test drive it. It's a little big, but hopefully she'll learn. And Daryn graduated to the balance bike.

Reagan is such an amazing kid. What a blessing she has been to us for 4 years! She loves to try new things and she is very brave. She is so smart and is learning to read. She likes to make new friends and try to control her sister. She's a bit of a wild child and struggles with impulse control. Once she has an idea in her head, it's impossible to dissuade her until she follows through with it. She loves being outside and gardening and looking at her books. She likes the strangest things like going to the doctor's office and the store and behaves very well. Speaking of which, at her 4 year appointment she was 30 lbs and 40 inches- almost exactly average in both. We're so grateful to have such a healthy, happy girl :)

Summer Lovin

The past month has been a crazy whirlwind of fun for our family. Here's some snapshots.

Splash pads.

Grandma time.

Cousins.

First time braids for Daryn and fairy theater camp for Reagan.

Lots and lots of water and messes (the best kind).

 Visiting my grandparents.

Waterfall hike. A favorite.

Two quicks trips to Colorado for me- a bachelorette party and a wedding! So happy for Mindy!

And the Alpine slide and coaster.

Daryn got to ride these instead of the coaster:

What a fun month! (and that's not even including Reagan's birthday or the 4th of July). We've had a wonderful time but left us feeling a little like this:
I think we're all ready for things to settle down a bit.

Daryn is 2!

We celebrated Daryn's 2nd birthday in Houston. She had a total blast and was pretty much completely spoiled :).

I got her cake from a local bakery, and it was so stinking cute! (And sooo yummy)

Her big present from Gigi and Granddaddy was this electric ride-on Minnie car.

At first she was like "Say what?!?"

And then she was like "Dad. I am not amused."

And then she was like "Wheeee!!"

The gang:

Time for cake!

(We also celebrated Abigail's 1st birthday, a couple days early)

Daryn got some pretty sweet presents- lucky girl! It was so nice to have my aunt and uncle there to celebrate with us, as well as couple of the Brunson's family friends.

A few things about Daryn at 2 years old:
- weighed 22 lbs at the doctor this morning (10th percentile in height and weight)
- wears mostly 18 months clothes and size 4 shoes
- talks in phrases and sentences, can say almost anything and is still a repeater
- knows a few of her colors but gets them mixed up
- can count objects up to 4
- loves nursery and her gymnastics class- is becoming much more social
- loves to eat, especially meat, and guzzles water
- loves swings, slides, and the trampoline
- loves singing, knows Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
- is very independent, but also pretty cooperative
- she is so sweet and very good-natured and pleasant
- loves fish- anywhere she can find them- she is obsessed!
- loves to climb up and jump off of things
- is very healthy- she gets sick less than anyone one else in our family, I think!

What a blessing it has been to be this girl's mother for the past 2 years. If I could have looked ahead and seen where we are now, it would have given me so much peace when she was born. She is truly an angel sent to our family.
