On the morning of the 4th, we decided to take the kids to play in a creek that Lance's cousin told us about. Unfortunately, it was all dried up, but we drove a ways farther until we finally found some water. Anything to cool off!
We walked aways upstream and there were beautiful wildflowers lining it. Idyllic.
Lance spotted this tiny trout and everyone worked together to catch it in a t-shirt.
They kept it in a bottle for a while and then released it when it was time to leave.
I hurried back to Dixie, but I don't think she missed me one bit.
We also had to get home to get ready for a program!
Joy put together this awesome program that honored my 4 brothers in the military. We practiced a few times and the kids nailed it.
Lots of marching, singing, and reciting! They all did a great job (ages 4 and up).
After the program, the older cousins helped Reagan with a sweet cotton candy set-up. They made a menu and took orders from everyone. Delish!
Dixie had to settle for her hand since she was too little.
Matching besties!
My kids are obsessed with Aunt Sharon. She's like me, but nicer.
After a yummy dinner, we finished the day off with a huge softball game, a gorgeous sunset, and then sparklers. A lovely evening, for the most part.
Happy birthday, America!
