A Very Merry Mother's Day

Today has been a wonderful day. While I was showering and feeding Daryn, Lance made a delicious breakfast- bacon and heart-shaped chocolate chip pancakes. And he surprised me with an edible arrangements bouquet! My very first one- and it was delicious!

We raced to finish getting ready for church and barely made it on time. The girls were a little fussy from lots of missed naps in the last couple days, but we managed to get a couple good pictures before meltdowns.

 Lance was a sweetheart and took Daryn into his class all during RS so I could focus on the lesson and the treats after! Thanks again, dear.

Now he's in the process of making a steak dinner and I'm eating more fruit. I'm the luckiest mom in the world.

Baby Animals

Saturday was a very busy day for us. Lots of time with nieces. First we went to Chiara's gymnastics show. Then that evening we drove up to Park City for Grace's ballet recital. Both girls did so great (even though poor Grace was so sick) and Reagan was inspired by their performances. In between the two, after lunch, it was the much-anticipated Baby Animal Days! Where Reagan rode her very first horse two years ago. She was ready to jump in the saddle again!

 Daryn would have made an even tinier cowgirl, but she was too upset about the helmet falling on her face to get on the horse.

There were lots of animals to see and pet.

 

 And rock climbing to try! (Pretty difficult with slippery boots on.)

 The bunnies and chicks were a big hit and worth the long line.

 Even Daryn wanted in on that!

 

 And last but not least, her piggy "face" painting.

A Day at the Doctors

On Friday Daryn and I had yet another long day at clinic. It started off on a good foot.

 Things went progressively downhill throughout the morning as she got tired and hungry, but picked up again at lunchtime when Daddy stopped by and she got to see the fishies.

 But then it was time for her kidney ultrasound, and that's always the worst part. She was seriously traumatized while I held her down.

 Finally at home and plumb tuckered out.

At least the visit was productive. We learned that the want to do her major surgery in the next couple months- eek! Big changes ahead for this girl.

Rain, Rain

We've been having a lot of rain mixed in with the beautiful weather lately. No worries, nothing dampens this girl's spirits!

Even when she has to eat her Popsicle inside because it's too chilly. 

 Or when our bubble party gets rained out.

4 years

Lance and I celebrated 4 years of wedded bliss last week. On Thursday (the day of), we all 4 went to dinner in Salt Lake at Market Street Grill. It was yummy and a afterwards we walked around downtown a little bit since it was a gorgeous day.

Later that night Lance and I gorged ourselves on homemade strawberry-rhubarb pie. SO. GOOD. We ate the whole things ourselves over the next couple days and didn't even share any with Reagan. Oops.

Saturday was Anniversary 2.0. Genevieve and her family kindly took our girls to the Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival so Lance and I could go on a lunch date. 

We had a couples massage and then Zupas, and then hit up the mall for some successful shopping. That night, we put the girls to bed and then had a babysitter come watch the house while we went to see Captain America. We've found that most of our dates these days come in bits and pieces. As spread out as it was, it was the perfect anniversary celebration! 4 years, 4 people. Let's hope this is the last time those numbers match up.

A small leak

4 weeks ago tomorrow, I looked up at the kitchen ceiling and noticed a dark wet spot with a small crack in the middle.

 

Uh oh. 

And thus began the very expensive, month long process of repairing the leak from our master bathroom shower that is still not complete. 

We called a disaster repair company who came out and determined the leak was from the outer right corner of our shower. We started showering in the girls' bathroom and two days later they came back and put up this:

 Yup. Right smack in the middle of our kitchen. They opened up a huge hole in our ceiling to clear out any mold and then turned on a very loud fan and dehumidifier and a heater in our bathroom to dry things out, which ran for 4 days over Easter weekend. That was really fun. Then the plumber came came a determined that it was not a plumbing leak, but a leak from water getting out through the shower door and in between the tile and the drywall. So we caulked up the wall and put some towels by the door to soak up any excess water. Meanwhile, the disaster company came back, declared everything good, and said the repair guys would contact us the next day. 2 weeks later, we had no progress but one or two rounds of phone tag. At this point we were so frustrated, so we contacted another guy who did drywall who came and patched it up last week and took down the containment area.

Lance painted the ceiling on Monday night, and we can finally use out kitchen again! All that's left is putting the light back up and getting new shower door- which should hopefully happen tomorrow. We'll see if the original company ever comes back to pick up their equipment and get their payment for the work they did...

11 months- almost there!

Daryn has been a busy little bee the past months. She is progressing so quickly and right on schedule! Although her main form of transportation is still crawling and she's gotten quite good at it (see below), she now pulls up to stand is starting to cruise and take steps along the furniture!

 She loves standing but gets herself in some funny positions thanks to her hips, legs, and feet.

 

Her relationship with Reagan is starting to get really solid and they love playing together.

Her hair is finally starting to come in and she's not such a baldy anymore.

 She is starting to really enjoy being outdoors more.

And she sleeps like a rock. Most of the time. 

 

Other than her mobility, not too much has changed. She likes taking things out of boxes and putting them back in. She is starting to climb stairs. Her favorite noise are growling, clucking, and saying "mamama" and "yahyahyah".  She is the sweetest heart around.
