Birthday Night at the Temple

This past weekend was our niece Grace's 3rd birthday. Her mom had a fun Friday evening planned and was nice enough to include us! Reagan and I took the train to Salt Lake and met up with Meagan and headed (hode?) over to Temple Square to see the lights. It was beautiful! Grace loved it and Reagan tolerated it.

She was not happy about having to wear her big puffy coat. 

After Temple Square, we went for a visit to Build-A-Bear (and met up with Lance)! What a magical place.

Grace picked out a beautiful blue bear.  I wasn't going to get anything for Reagan, but they had a deal for a $5 Christmas teddy- I couldn't pass it up, and Reagan loved it.

We wrapped up the evening with dinner at Z'Tejas, and then hurried home to get to bed since we had our ward Christmas party at 8 am the next day. Yep, you read that right. Yikes. It was a blast though.

Giving Thanks and Eating Food

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Lance's parents and sister last week. Everyone came to our house, and we went all out. So delicious, but so much work.

Since Reagan was asleep when we had dinner, she got to enjoy her own Thanksgiving meal later.Dig in!

And of course, homemade pies for dessert. Pumpkin, apple, and buttermilk. Yummmm. 

Lance had to work the day after Thanksgiving, but Reagan and put up all the Christmas decorations, and Saturday we went and got a tree! Reagan had a great time helping to decorate it, and she has an even better time un-decorating it every day. Yay...

Let the holiday season begin!

Snow Much Fun

With October over, winter showed up with a vengeance! It snowed all day Friday, but didn't stick until it got dark. When we went to bed we had around 2 inches, and woke up to about 8! It snowed off and on all weekend. Since our plans to finish up some last minute yard work were thwarted, we decided instead to run over to Target, pick up a snowsuit for Reagan and a sled, and go sledding! Reagan looked sooo cute in her snow clothes, but she would not keep her mittens on for the life of her.

 She really loved the sledding, especially when the snow would spray up in her face.

 Her little hands got so cold by the end, Lance had to put his gloves on her, and that didn't even work very well.

 It was a beautiful snowy day. We had so much fun, and afterwards we got to come home and cuddle up in our warm house by the fire! Bring on winter :)

Halloween: the real deal

After getting all geared up two weekends ago for Halloween, we were ready to go when this week rolled around! First things first: carving pumpkins for FHE.

Once Dad showed her how to do it...

 Reagan loved scooping out the guts.

 Much too busy to look up for a picture.

 Ok maybe not. But no smiles. This is serious business!

 She would pull out one or two seeds at a time and throw them in the trash. Unless she dropped them on the floor. Then she would spend a few minutes trying to pick the seed back up.

 "Hmmm, not bad I suppose."

We were not very creative this year. I carved a chipped tooth smiley for Reagan that matched her teeth, and I carved my pumpkin into....a pumpkin. 

 

Lance's was the best (not that there was much competition) with a pacman theme. 

 Then finally, the big day was here! We went trick or treating right at 6:30 while it was still light, so we could pass out candy afterwards. Reagan got geared up to go and made sure she was fully hydrated before Lance got home.

 This house has some creepy decorations that fascinated Reagan.

 At the last house we went to, they didn't answer, and Reagan was so disappointed.

 But that wore off quickly once we got home and she checked out her bounty (most of which we gave away a few hours later when we ran out).

 "Check this out, Mom!'

 "Did I get it all?" I don't know, better shake the bag out to make sure.

 Wrapped candy tastes the best- dig in!

 And we ended the night with a bajillionth reading of Reagan's favorite book, snuggled up on the couch.

Halloween Round 1

This weekend we really got in the swing of all things Halloween- gotta get geared up for next week! Besides heading up to Park City Friday night and Saturday to help Lance's sister move, we went on a hayride to a pumpkin patch- even better because it was free! Reagan was so excited to be on the "choo!".

 When we got there, we had to look all over to find the perfect pumpkin.

 "This one, Dad?"

"No, this one!"

 "This is definitely the one!"

 It sits just right!

 Kisses!

 "Don't drop it, Dad!"

 Saturday night was our ward's Trunk-or-Treat. We went all out with a Captain Hook, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell look.

 

Reagan really loved her fairy wings.

 But she was terrified of Lance's wig, which is saying a lot since she's been obsessed with him the last week and cries "Daaaddddyy" every time he leaves her sight.

 Happy girl safe with Mommy.

 The only time she would let Lance near her was when she was distracted trying to get some candy.

 "Where are the Butterfingers?"

This afternoon while I was visiting teaching, Lance raked up a few leaves and Reagan immediately started running through them. What a natural. No chance of her holding still for a picture.
