Baby Bum

When we went to get Reagan up from her nap yesterday, this is what we found. (Even after turning on the light and talking). So cute.
At her doctor's appointment today she weighed 17 lbs- back up to 40th percentile! We've really been packing in the food the last month. Hopefully we can get her back up to 50th by her 9 month birthday. Or maybe she will just be our skinny minnie.

We're moving to Layton in a month! We are in the process of buying a house right now. (And boy, is it complicated.) I am soooo excited to have a yard and a garden and lots of space. Also, it will cut Lance's commute in half, which means we can eat dinner before 8pm! We are going to look at the house again this week, and we will take lots of pictures! Although I said I never wanted to stay in Utah, we will probably be in this house for at least 5 years. And the best part- no more living by college students!

Jingle Bells, Baby Screams

As the bookend of Lance's birthday celebration, we finally went on our thrice-rescheduled sleigh ride last night. We were really looking forward to it. Reagan, however, had other plans. As she is the most well-behaved baby, we usually have no qualms about taking her places (other than church). Unfortunately, some combination of the cold, the wind, the horse, or the darkness drove her crazy, and she screamed and cried for about 97% of the ride. She got so cold because she wouldn't hold still so we couldn't keep her bundled up, and then she cried harder. It was...magical.

I felt bad for our driver, a real old cowboy, and he in turn felt bad for us, so when we got back to the lodge we drank hot chocolate and he serenaded us for a few minutes on his guitar. On a brighter note, the place where the sleigh rides were was also where the crater from last week's episode of the Bachelor is (hello fans!). It's not in the middle of nowhere, and you certainly don't have to hike up a hill or climb over No Trespassing signs to get there. There are both stairs and a tunnel. Anyway, it is open to the public and you can pay to go swimming, snorkeling, or even scuba diving there! It was warm and toasty, and Reagan loved it. Figures.

It was pretty cool. Deceitful show. Things are never as they seem.In other news, we made our first offer on a home yesterday. Details to come soon.

7 months!

Reagan turned 7 months old on Saturday. We drove up to Park City to hang out with Lance's parents. Of course, Utah finally decided to have some snow, and the weather was terrible. The roads were so bad, we almost got stranded up there. Reagan does have a doctors appointment in few weeks, so we wont know her stats till then.

Reagan's skills: scootches/army crawls, goes from lying to sitting up, says dada, nana, and (as of today!) mama, transfers objects between hands, dances to music, eats finger food, tries to get into everything, plays with interactive toys.

Her favorite toy right now is Lance's birthday balloon. Too bad it has almost deflated.

She gets the best toys from her cousin Gracie!

On the move

So I think this may be my second blog ever. Why? Because I have the most wonderful wife ever, and I had the best birthday. Just a quick little recap... Saturday, we went tubing with friends at Soldiers' Hollow, then came back to the condo and played games, which was all a blast.

Tuesday morning Kelly made me a delicious breakfast with eggs and cheddar "Lil Smokies" sausages (my favorite), and got me some replacement shoe-things. I'm not sure what they're called, but they are sooooo comfortable, and as you can see in the picture below, my old ones definitely had seen better days (note the chunks missing from various pyrotechnic and sundry other pyromaniac adventures). :) What a great gift!

Tuesday night, Kelly left Reagan with Marissa, and I met her, Meagan and Sam for a quite dinner at the Oyster Bar in Sandy. Fried calamari, crab dip, and stuffed halibut...amazing. Gosh, I miss good seafood.

This Saturday we're headed to Tucanos to take advantage of their birthday-month 2-for-1 special.

Altogether, just a great birthday week. Thank you, honey!

30 for 30

In honor of Lance's 30th birthday, which is in exactly 17 minutes, I decided to make a list of my favorite 30 qualities about him. These are the things that made me realize he was the perfect guy for me. (They are not related to how he treats me or Reagan or our relationship, because I could go on for ages about how amazing he is. These are just about him). Here goes.

1- loves kids
2- survivalist/prepared for emergencies
3- owns guns
4- juris doctorate
5- close to his family
6- very good with money
7- works out to keep his body fiiine
8- knows exactly when to threaten a lawsuit
9- dedicated follower of Christ
10- a leader, not a follower
11- loves all things manly
12- can hold his own with anyone
13- knows how to dress
14- hunts
15- master of the honey-do list
16- loves the outdoors
17- gets along with everyone
18- strong, strong, strong
19- forgives easily
20- has next to no temper
21- loves to read
22- handy with tools
23- knows good restaurants
24- an excellent cook
25- loves meat
26- fulfills all his callings
27- can drive aggressively but safely
28- always willing to help out others in a tight spot
29- the perfect southern gentleman with his manners and "ma'am" and "sir"
30- likes sports just the right amount (BYU and a couple other games. Just like me)

It's easy to see what an incredible man he is. We have so much in common and he is my perfect match. I thank heaven every day that he somehow fell for me, because I know I am the luckiest girl in the world. Tomorrow he will read this on his phone, like he does every time I write a post, and he will probably be embarrassed, because he's also so humble. Happy birthday, honey. You are the best. I love you.

Time to celebrate!

It's Lance's birthday week! And not just any birthday. He's turning 30 on Tuesday. Wow. I married an old man! Just kidding. It's a good thing I'm so mature for my age :). Anyway, to kick off the birthday celebrations, we went snow tubing yesterday with a bunch of our friends. I love snow tubing; it's one of my favorite winter activities. (So much better than sledding because you get pulled up the hill!). Last year we couldn't go because I was pregnant. But this year my newly RM friend Annie was willing to babysit so we could go!

We were joined by...

Marissa and Chase

Christine and Ken

and Becca and AJ

Going up the "lift"

Action shot! Chase, Marissa, me, and one of the workers.

When we got home, we had cupcakes and hot chocolate.
See how Reagan is acting totally uninterested? Don't be fooled. When Lance leaned forward to blow out the candles, she grabbed one of the cupcakes.
Lance immediately took it away, but then she stuffed her frosting-covered fist in her mouth before we could wipe it off! Well played, Reagan. Well played.

In other news, Reagan utilized several of her new Christmas presents today. First, her ducky bath:
She loves being able to sit up like a big girl!

And second her new dress and cowboy boots!
This outfit lasted about 3 minutes. We didn't even make it out the door before she spit up peas on the dress and pulled off the boots to chew on. Silly girl.

6 month stats

AKA the itsy bitsy baby. Reagan had her 6 month doctor appointment this morning. The results were somewhat surprising. In one month we went from having a fairly average baby to a tiny (yet tall) one!

Length: 27 inches (80th percentile)
Weight: 15 lbs, 11 oz (35th percentile! Yikes!)
Head: 41.6 cm (20th precentile- another yikes!)

My baby is so tall and skinny! In fact, she is in the 9th percentile for weight of babies her height. That's it. We need to start packing in the food!

Skills: so close to crawling! (she pushes up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth), sits up well, eats lots of fruits and veggies, lunges forward, rolls all over, flirts and makes friends with strangers, chews on everything, loves peek-a-boo and patty-cake, plays with more advanced toys, starting to pull herself up, still sleeps around 16 hours a day.

This little girl lights up my life every day! She is such a joy to be around- so smiley and giggly. We just love her to death. I can't believe how quickly she is growing. Better buy a baby gate this week!
